To do:

The internship position is in the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Department of a strategic business unit in Thermo Fisher Scientific. The intern will be primarily working on improving & maintaining the existing BI solution. She/he will be a fully empowered member of the FP&A team with regards to the accurate and efficient reporting of many layers of data. The intern will be providing qualitative & quantitative information to senior management and the rest of the organization in the form of dashboards and reports and will participate in meeting with the senior site leadership. This is an excellent opportunity to gain working experience in a global environment, covering different FP&A processes across the liquid chromatography product line in Thermo Fischer Scientific.

Roles & responsibilities:

- Support the improvement of various KPIs & dashboards to drive the right decisions at the right time; translate business requirements into IT specs
- Work on the data collection/mapping and participate in the code reviews to optimize the BI design/solution in close partnership with the IT team
- Continuously improve quality based on user experience & analytical capabilities, troubleshoot issues and contribute to the data integrity
- Help with the automation of manual or sub-optimal business processes and analyses
- Support with regular tasks, ad hoc requests and simplification projects

Requirements:

- Undergraduate student requiring internship according to her/his university curriculum
- Advanced command of MS Excel and database (MS Access/SQL), knowledge of MS Navision & SAP a plus
- B.S./Master in Math, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering preferred
- Data mining, data science (modeling), BI experience is a plus
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
- Process driven thinking & passion for simplification
- Self-starter, independent with strong intellectual curiosity
- Hands-on mentality
- Good command of English
- German work permit
